A Manchester fashion student has been presented with a cheque for £20.000 by the renowned Italian designer, Alberta Ferretti at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week gala.

The River Island Gold Award for the best student collection was presented to the Manchester University School of Art student, Rebecca Thomson, 22.

Her collection was based on the classic white shirt style, which was restyled in Brobdingnagian proportions of giant polka dot and striped ties, skirts with cascading pleats and lace bib collars.

Thomas Crisp of Ravensbourne won the Best Menswear Award, while Rhea Fields of Sussex’s Northbrook College won Best Womenswear Award.

The Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles prize was won by Anna Lee of De Montfort University, and Northumbria Universities, Ledina Zhang won the BHM Knitwear Visionary Award.

Many of the top design houses designers started off by winning award like the highly talented people here and have gone onto furthering their careers by designing many of the high streets womens and mens ranges from women’s leather jackets and men’s leather jackets, to designer dresses and accessories.

Louis Vuitton, the luxury designer label noted for the leather bags and leather travel bags are celebrating the news that they are to open in London a new flagship store.

The new store will be on New Bond Street in the heart of the West End. The flagship store will rival the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

Marc Jacobs, the American designer and who is creative director of LV is expected to be there for the night.

The new LV flagship store was designed by the Peter Marino, the New York based architect who also worked on the Champs Elysees maison.

The store itself is 15,000 sq ft and its design is said to reflect the 21st century mood of London, while bringing together innovation, heritage and fashion, which M Carcelle says ‘these are all the values that are important to us’.

The creative director of Mulberry, Emma Hill has described herself as a ‘whirlwind’.
Here own personal look is her messy hair, but in a very artful style and her jewellery which her numerous bracelets that jangle really stand out as she talks with an unmatched enthusiasm, often missing the ends of sentences as she races through her explanations.

This is Emma’s third season at Mulberry, who is one of Britain’s top leather clothing and leather bag brands.

The company was originally founded by Roger Saul in Somerset in 1971. Over the years the brand has grown in popularity and the ever evolving styles of both the clothing and the leather bags, has allowed it to open ups more and more to all age groups. Online alone, the list of customers is 9000 just waiting for the new Hill creation.
